Vegan leather bomber jacket buying guide: what to look for.
Not all vegan leather is created equal. Before you buy a vegan leather bomber jacket, here's exactly what to check — material, fit, details, sizing, and care — so you end up with a jacket you'll actually wear for years.
1. The material: know what "vegan leather" means
"Vegan leather" simply means no animal hides were used. Most vegan leather jackets — including ours — are made from PU (polyurethane), a manufactured material engineered to look and feel like leather. A trustworthy brand will tell you exactly what its jackets are made of. Ours are 100% vegan PU leather, stated plainly on every product page. If a listing just says "vegan leather" with no specifics, that's worth a second look. Curious about the bigger picture? Read why we chose vegan leather.
2. The fit: relaxed, with room to layer
A bomber should sit at or just below the waist, with a body that's relaxed enough to move in and layer under. The classic bomber silhouette was built for pilots who needed to reach, stretch, and layer — that DNA still matters. Look for a cut that's comfortable over a tee with room for a hoodie underneath, and ribbed trim at the hem that keeps the shape instead of riding up. Our Classic Bomber is cut exactly this way: relaxed through the body, ribbed collar, cuffs and hem that hold their shape.
3. The details that matter
Small details separate a jacket that looks premium from one that doesn't. Check for a full-front zipper that runs smoothly, ribbed collar and cuffs that snap back instead of sagging, and clean, even stitching. Functional touches earn their keep too — the Classic Bomber's utility sleeve pocket is the kind of detail you'll use more than you expect. These are the things product photos can show you, so zoom in before you buy.
4. The sizes: buy your normal size
The Classic Bomber comes in M and L and runs true to size — your usual size is the right starting point. Between sizes, or want a closer fit? Size down. Plan to layer thick knits underneath all winter? That's the one case to consider sizing up. We've put the full breakdown in the fit guide, including how each jacket wears with different layers.
5. The care: simpler than you think
One genuine advantage of vegan PU: there's no break-in period and no conditioning routine. Day to day, wipe the jacket down with a soft damp cloth, spot-clean marks with mild soap, and never machine wash or tumble dry it. Hang it on a wide, sturdy hanger and store it somewhere cool and dry, away from prolonged direct heat. That's the whole routine — we've written it up in full in our vegan leather care guide.
The short version
Specific material (100% vegan PU, stated openly), a relaxed cut with room to layer, details that hold up in close-up photos, true-to-size sizing in M and L, and dead-simple care. Check those five boxes and you'll land on a bomber worth keeping. Shopping for her instead? The women's counterpart is the Classic Regular Moto — same vegan PU, tailored moto cut. Still browsing?
